Complain to Frame!
The problem is that they close the window whenever you ask to iconify them.
And since ctwm "iconify" windows to make them temporarily invisible (when
you're in another workspace), Frame just closes them.
This is not a normal behavior. And the exact same problem you mention
might show up with CDE's window manager. You might try Frame5 with CDE
to see if the problem is there. Frame people will be more likely to listen
to you if you say "it doesn't work with CDE" than "it doesn't work with ctwm".
Alternatively, I patched ctwm so that you can ask it to ignore "close window"
request from some application (like Frame5) and this does help a little
sometimes, but I must admit it's not too convincing.
A better solution would be to change the way ctwm hides window. Rather than
iconifying them, it could move them *very far* away. This should take care
of them problem with Frame5, but I haven't gotten around to do it.
