Thanks for the clarification.
When I moved from twm to ctwm a few years ago I remember
animation on the title bar (?). That was the first thing to
go and I've been slow to add back features. I probably know
about and use fewer than 50% of ctwm's features. But the
above--the f.autoraise--is a got-to-try. :-)
