Not an answer to your question, but is it specific to xterms, or is it
the same in cmdtools, rxvts or other terminals? I would think it may
be some application other than ctwm that makes X calls to capture
keystrokes that somehow get X to pass the events to the application
rather than through the window manager. I don't know though.
