Too bad you can't reproduce it any more. Do you remember if it was
an `assert failure' by any chance ?

I don't use autolower so I can't tell, but my otp patch needs to wrap
all calls to raise and lower Xlib functions, so it probably does have
interactions with autolower (even if the patch applies fine, it probably
introduces bugs).
I might try to merge the autolower patch into mine (as well as upgrade to
the latest ctwm release).
I'll send an announcement on this list when it is done.
