I don't think it would be ***THAT*** difficult to create the
hooks for Gnome (& KDE). But I may be entirelt wrong. After
around 25 years of hacking I was 9/11'd out of a job and being
then 56 decided to make a complete career change (my 3rd) and
take on grad study in philosophy (Ethics). As a programmer
my work included porting, some kernel hacking, and OS test.
        Nothing with any window manager/desktop.

I'm still using CTWM on most servers; trying to get into GNOME
on my new whizbang Ubuntu server. Gnome is too glitzy in a lot
of ways. Too much mousing around for me. But, things are
moving more+more toward Gnome/KDE and it won't be long before
CTWM is a dinosaur if we don't have the ability to seamleslly
meld into Gnome. (Gnome and KDE interoperate.)

It'll be another 2+ years before I have my M.A, so am close to
havng negative spare time. Still:: what do we have to add to be
        Gnome complient??
